CDC warns public of new salmonella outbreak

Aug. 29, 2025

A new outbreak of salmonella connected to recalled Large Brown Cage Free "Sunshine Yolks" eggs by Country Eggs, LLC has been announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Currently, there have been 95 confirmed cases among 14 U.S. states. Nobody has died, but there have been 18 hospitalizations. Over 75% of patients are in California.

The eggs could have sell by dates ranging from July 1, 2025- September 18, 2025. The CDC advises people to throw away or return the recalled eggs and to “wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled eggs using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.”
