New salmonella outbreak connected to frozen sprouted beans

July 18, 2025

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) posted a warning regarding a new outbreak of salmonella.

Currently, there have been 11 confirmed cases among 10 U.S. states. Nobody has died, but there have been four hospitalizations so far. The CDC attributes the outbreak to recalled Deep brand frozen sprouted moong (mung) beans and frozen sprouted moth (mat) beans.

The CDC advises people to throw away or return the product. They also warn people to “Wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled frozen sprouted beans using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.”
