The CDC reports over 300 salmonella cases across 27 states linked to jalapeños from Sinaloa, Mexico, with some hospitalizations but no deaths. Major chains like Chipotle and Qdoba have halted sales of the product.
Currently, there have been more than 300 confirmed cases among 27 U.S. states. Nobody has died, but there have been 36 hospitalizations so far. The CDC attributes the outbreak to jalapeños grown in Sinaloa, Mexico and distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors.
It is currently unknown whether the jalapeños were sent to grocery stores. Chipotle and Qdoba have reportedly stopped serving the recalled product.
The CDC advises people who have purchased jalapeños to ask their stores where they came from and to not eat recalled jalapeños. Surfaces that have been in contact with the recalled product should be washed and sanitized, CDC says.
