To address overdoses in the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently launched the CDC Overdose Prevention Data Channel. The platform allows patients, providers, and stakeholders to review national and statewide fatal and nonfatal overdose data, recommendations for prevention, and information about relevant CDC programs in one digital resource.

The toolkit was created in partnership with CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Division of Overdose Prevention; Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology; and National Center for Health Statistics, according to an announcement. It utilizes the CDC’s State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS), the Drug Overdose Surveillance and Epidemiology (DOSE) system, and the NVSS surveillance programs.

The most recent data on the channel shows overdose trends from April 2025-March 2026. The CDC hopes this information will aid overdose prevention efforts across the nation.
