AABB announces award honorees

The Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) revealed the recipients of their 2025 awards in an announcement.

Regarding the awards, AABB said they “are presented to distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to AABB and the field of transfusion medicine and biotherapies.”

2025 award recipients:

·       Landsteiner-Alter Award: Tomas Ganz, MD, PhD

·       Emily Cooley Memorial Award: Michael F.  Murphy, MD, FRCP, FRCPath, FFPath

·       Tibor Greenwalt Memorial Award: Steven L. Spitalnik, MD

·       Hemphill-Jordan Leadership Award: J. Wade Atkins, MS,MLS(SBB), CAPB(H), CQA

·       Sally Frank Memorial Award: Thierry Peyrard, PharmD, PhD

·       John Elliott Memorial Award: Yvette Tanhehco, PhD, MD, MS, CABP

·       Dale Smith Memorial Award: Raymond P. Goodrich, PhD

·       AABB Foundation Award for Innovative Research: David Roh, MD

·       Transfusion Research Innovation in Scientific Excellence (RISE) Award: Article: “A lower fibrinogen threshold does not lead to increased bleeding risk in patients receiving therapeutic plasma exchange: A prospective single-center analysis"
