California-based Biocare Medical has announced the expansion of the company’s automated instrumentation offering with the release of the ONCORE automated slide staining system. According to company spokespersons, the ONCORE is a compact and convenient bench-top instrument that is capable of performing both immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) testing procedures on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues. The on-board capabilities of the ONCORE include baking, deparaffinization, antigen retrieval, and antibody or probe detection for IHC, ISH, and Multiplex IHC applications. The ONCORE will be accompanied by a suite of proprietary primary antibodies, IHC, and ISH reagents.
The ONCORE Automated Slide Staining System performs IHC while enabling customized processing of up to 36 slides at once. Each slide loaded onto the ONCORE system may be processed with a different protocol, regardless of position. Slide processing is facilitated by reaction modules that enclose slides between a heated platform and a novel reagent containment chamber. Reagents are dispensed onto slides through ports attached to each chamber. To maximize stain intensity and minimize background, chambers are capable of gentle agitation to enhance processing throughout the staining procedure. A full range of specially designed reagents to support both IHC are available for the ONCORE system.
“We are very excited to be adding the ONCORE to our instrumentation menu—bringing a new fully-automated IHC and ISH system to the market to provide state-of-the-art quality staining”, says Roy Yih, President and CEO of Biocare Medical. Read a system overview of the Oncore system.Read more
