Lean process module tailored for AP lab

Critical to the Lean Process is the ability to retrieve, analyze, and report on data relevant to the individual “processes” within your lab. NovoPath’s seamlessly integrated Lean Process Management Module is tailored to assist you in obtaining a leaner AP Lab. The direct result of a partnership between your lab’s commitment to Continuous Process Improvement and implementing NovoPath’s Lean Process Management Module is a roadmap that guides your AP lab to (1) differentiate “value adding tasks” from those that are not, (2) recognize and eliminate bottlenecks and waste, (3) identify best practices, (4) set measurable goals, (5) calculate progress made toward reaching milestones, and (6) continually redefine goals and improve processes—and all of this takes place at the lowest common denominator in your lab—the individual workstation.

Increase workflow efficiency

The cobas p 312 pre-analytical system is a front-end automation solution that offers comprehensive, vendor-neutral sample management for labs with limited floor space. It is a compact, stand-alone system for decapping, sorting, and archiving of sample tubes for SWA, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. Professional laboratory management is no longer a question of size—the cobas p 312 pre-analytical system is the beginning of a new dimension of efficiency in laboratory automation. With a throughput of up to 450 tubes per hour, it is designed to meet the needs of the small- to mid-volume customer, and combines superior sample management and increased workflow efficiency with a high density of functionality all on a very small footprint.

Lean Six Sigma

As a result of the Lean Six Sigma approach to minimizing defects and costs through controlling waste and variance in a production process, Sunquest’s solutions improve responsiveness to clients, reduce waste, increase workflow consistency, proactively manage performance, reduce errors, and improve turnaround times.

Laboratory™ supports Lean practices in the clinical space through automation of the lab process from ordering to results reporting. Laboratory SMART improves and controls workflow to drive efficiencies and reduce rework, creating a product with fewer defects with improved turnaround time, leading to greater patient care.

CoPathPlus™ SMART and PowerPath® AMP provide accurate labeling and tracking of all materials and assets in your AP lab, utilizing bar code technology and just-in-time processing. The result is an efficient workflow, reduced errors and significantly enhanced patient safety.

One of the tenets of Six Sigma methodology is continuous improvement. Diagnostic Intelligence™ solution provides real-time dashboards to track key performance indicators, staffing levels, and turnaround time, allowing the ability to make data-driven decisions and improvements.

Single piece flow centrifuges gain process efficiencies

The need to move laboratory centrifugation from a central location using large “batch” processing centrifuges to smaller department specific single piece flow centrifuges is well documented and a strong recommendation for any size laboratory seeking to gain process efficiencies through Lean.

The StatSpin brand Express series centrifuges are specifically designed to reduce sample processing times for laboratory departments. These small quiet centrifuges allow laboratories to get specimens on analyzers quickly, providing blood separation in only two to three minutes as compared to traditional 10 to 15 minute centrifuge times.

The Express 2 centrifuge is perfect for stat and ER testing, providing blood separation and platelet poor plasma (PPP) in only two minutes.

The Express 3 Centrifuge is ideal for coagulation, and blood banking, providing separation in three minutes and PPP in only two minutes.

The horizontal rotor Express 4 Centrifuge provides a flat line separation for gel tubes in only three minutes, making it the instrument of choice for chemistry labs.
