“My family is my passion. I live near Lexington, Kentucky, with my husband (a retired career military officer) and two sons. I enjoy spending time with them and being involved in our community.”
Sunquest is the flagship company in the laboratory space. Our goal is to continue to create flexible solutions that improve patient care and fulfill the business objectives of today's healthcare leaders. While many of our solutions focus on pathology and clinical lab processes, our primary focus is to provide labs with solutions that empower their facilities to drive efficiencies and enable them to become profit centers. Today Sunquest is a leading provider in Anatomic Pathology and very focused on leading that vision. Our portfolio includes products that cover all areas of the laboratory from the core lab, through point-of-care, and pathology as well as reaching outside the walls of the hospital into the community with our comprehensive outreach solutions.
Products and solutions have evolved to meet changing customer needs. Our customers are always concerned with improving patient care and workflow efficiency, and their specific needs evolve as regulatory requirements change. With the upcoming Stage 2 of Meaningful Use on the horizon, our customers will need solutions that not only support EHRs, but facilitate the use and maintenance of these records from point-of-care through the entire lab process. We offer several point-of-care products, such as Sunquest Collection Manager™, through which providers can collect and track any specimen from the patient's bedside, even in the operating room. Our latest product to be released with Collection Manager is for the surgical space. We have listened to our clients and understand the high cost and patient dissatisfaction when a surgical specimen is lost. With the use of our Collection Manager for Surgical, there is zero error in surgical specimen management. This solution provides the ability to track the specimen from the surgical space to the pathology arrival and beyond. Patient safety is protected through a reduction in errors. The streamlined process creates an efficient workflow, and EHRs are supported within the facility and across organizations, starting and ending at the point-of-care.
We have responded to Accountable Care Organization requirements by developing products that maximize business resources. For example, our Diagnostic Intelligence program tracks real-time analytics of metrics and workflows in the lab, allowing staff and managers to allocate resources and monitor performance. Our Outreach Advantage suite allows labs to leverage value by expanding business with community physicians. These are only a few examples; compliance, efficiency, and patient experience are at the heart of all of our solutions.
Efficiency and maximizing resources will only become more important in pathology workflow. Labs will continue to be asked to do more with less, and our products help them make the most of their capacity, staff, and resources.
Helping labs navigate the HITECH Act and Meaningful Use regulations, as well as HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10 compliance issues. We make it a priority to update our software to meet upcoming regulations before they are required, so clients always have access to compliant solutions. We were the first laboratory solution to be certified, and we strive to give our clients the tools they need to be prepared and successful. Our business is Pathology and we understand what it takes to be successful in the lab space today. We also offer our clients free monthly webinars to stay up to date on what is happening in the industry as well as how to make sure they are aware of the features and functions that can help them implement those features. Our goal is to help make our clients the most informed and successful clients.
Prioritize the work and make efficient management possible. As the VP Global Marketing and North American Sales, I am responsible for all International Marketing, including North America. Our organization runs as a team. We all have the same goal: for every customer to call us their partner. This relationship cannot be defined as a vendor; rather, we must earn the title partner from each customer. Our teams are empowered and they realize that everyone in the organization is working toward the end goal of providing an amazing level of service and products to our customers. Management becomes very easy when you have an organization that is aligned. Prioritization is also easy if an organization is truly focused on its customers.
Benefits of being a certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) with more than 10 years experience. I worked in the lab at the bench and managed our LIS, so when I visit customers I understand their issues and needs. Growing up in the lab has allowed me the opportunity to see what it's like to live with the struggles that many labs face, and now I have the opportunity to make a difference. Being a part of the vendor space allows me the ability to bring that lab knowledge to our development group and make sure our products have the efficiencies and patient safety drivers that labs need to be successful. I still very much enjoy meeting our customers and walking through their labs. It is not unusual to see me participate in lab workflow analysis with our customers. I want to stay close to the bench so that I can continue to make a difference.
Giving back to the community through educational and charitable enterprises. The Sunquest team values its connections to the community and participates in a variety of awareness and fund-raising activities through sponsorship, donations, and employee participation. As a global company with offices in Tucson, Arizona, Norwich, UK, and Bangalore, India, we value our connections to local organizations, including charities for cancer research, recently diagnosed cancer patients, men's health awareness, women and children in need, MS research, and the School for the Deaf and Blind. Employees in our Tucson offices participate in such large numbers at so many local events that we are recognized by the community for our sheer size and presence.
