70% of Americans with at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine

Aug. 4, 2021

A total of 70% of American adults, including 90% of seniors, have gotten at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the White House.

Overall, 165 million Americans are fully vaccinated, including 80% of seniors. There are still about 90 million eligible Americans who are unvaccinated.

As COVID-19 case volumes surge, vaccination rates have been increasing rapidly. Over the past few weeks, the country has seen a nearly 7% increase in the average number of new people getting vaccinated daily.

The increase in the number of people getting vaccinated is highest in states with the highest infection rates. For example, the average number of newly vaccinated people has increased 302% in Louisiana, 250% in Mississippi, 215% in Alabama, and 206% in Arkansas.

In addition to adults in those states, there also has been 50% increase in the average number of 12- to 17-year-olds getting vaccinated each day.
