Haven to cease operations

Jan. 5, 2021

Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase & Co will disband Haven, the joint venture the three companies had formed to lower healthcare costs and improve outcomes, according to a statement.

After forming the venture amid high expectations three years ago, Haven said it will officially cease operations by the end of February. Although Haven came up with ideas to improve healthcare delivery, each of the three founding companies launched their own projects separately, making the venture unnecessary, according to CNBC, which broke the news.

In a statement Haven said the venture had “explored a wide range of healthcare solutions, as well as piloted new ways to make primary care easier to access, insurance benefits simpler to understand and easier to use, and prescription drugs more affordable,” the statement said.

Moving forward, Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. plan to continue to collaborate informally on programs tailored to the specific needs of employees at each company.
