Shawnee State MLT program adds two automated analyzers

Shawnee State’s Medical Laboratory Technology program received two analyzers, giving students hands-on experience with clinical lab equipment before rotations.

Two automated analyzers have been granted to the Shawnee State University Medical Laboratory Technology program, according to a yahoo news article written by Landen Puckett.

The program’s students are now able to work with high-quality analyzers years before clinical rotations start. King's Daughters Medical Center Ohio gifted the MLT student laboratory an ACL Top 300, and SSU Foundation funding allowed the program to purchase a Diatron Pictus 500, Puckett said.

Comments from students revealed that the technology is helping students gain confidence and giving them positive experiences with the instruments before entering the clinical lab.
