LigoLab and MarginLogic partner to enhance laboratory workflow with AI-powered OCR
LigoLab and MarginLogic Health AI have entered into a marketplace agreement aimed at bringing AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR) to clinical laboratories.
Through this partnership, clinical laboratories, reference labs, and pathology groups can integrate MarginLogic Health AI's advanced OCR technology directly with LigoLab's all-in-one LIS & RCM Informatics Platform, automating one of the most labor-intensive steps in the diagnostic workflow: requisition processing and accessioning.
The integrated solution uses artificial intelligence to capture, interpret, validate, and route data from requisitions, physician orders, insurance cards, patient demographics, and supporting documentation before automatically transmitting validated orders into the LigoLab platform. The result is faster accessioning, fewer manual keystrokes, improved data quality, cleaner claims, and more efficient laboratory operations.
MarginLogic Health AI uses contextual AI to understand clinical documents. It recognizes both handwritten and printed requisitions, interprets clinical context, validates extracted information, flags ambiguous fields for human review, and continuously improves through user feedback. High-confidence requisitions are processed automatically with minimal or no manual intervention, while lower-confidence fields are routed for review to ensure accuracy.
Beyond improving operations, the partnership also strengthens financial performance. By increasing demographic accuracy, validating insurance information, reducing transcription errors, and capturing more complete order details before accessioning, laboratories can reduce claim issues, minimize denials, and improve reimbursement accuracy.
The LigoLab-MarginLogic integration complements existing laboratory interfaces rather than replacing them. Electronic orders transmitted directly from provider EHRs continue to flow through established connections, and MarginLogic Health AI automates the processing of paper-based and non-integrated requisitions that would otherwise require manual entry. This hybrid approach enables laboratories to maximize automation regardless of how orders arrive.
