To streamline patient care and to relieve healthcare staff of some administrative burden, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched Amazon Connect Health. Details of the tool are highlighted in a press release and on Amazon’s website.

Amazon Connect Health “is a purpose-built agentic AI solution” that gives time back to patients and healthcare professionals. For patients, this means 24/7 appointment scheduling with minimal wait times. For healthcare staff, this means less time on administrative tasks. According to AWS, the tool “integrates with the Electronic Health Records (EHRs) clinicians use for patient verification, appointment management, patient medical history reviews, clinical documentation, and medical coding, while keeping humans in control at every step.”

Additional key features:

  • The system notifies staff when human intervention is needed
  • Saves one minute every phone call, according to company data
  • Summarizes patient information prior to their visit
  • Records thorough doctor-patient conversations and clinical notes
  • Optimizes billing
