Instrumentation Laboratory presents webinar “Laboratory Monitoring of Heparin Therapies” April 30

Instrumentation Laboratory’s ILluminations Webinar Series will present “Laboratory Monitoring of Heparin Therapies: Achieving Greater Efficiencies and Better Outcomes with Anti-Xa Methodology” this coming Wednesday, April 30, between 1 pm and 2 pm, Eastern Time. Participation in the webinar will be worth 1.0 Professional Education Program hour through P.A.C.E.® The speaker will be Annie Winkler, MD, MSc, Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine; Medical Director, Grady Health System Transfusion Services; and Assistant Director, Emory Special Coagulation Laboratory.

The program will include:

  • A methodology comparison of UFH monitoring using Anti-Xa vs. aPTT
  • A discussion of the clinical and laboratory impacts of each methodology and analysis of the effect on achieving therapeutic anticoagulation
  • A review of the proposed roadmap for successful implementation of Anti-Xa testing methodologies in the hemostasis laboratory to improve hospital efficiencies and support better patient care
  • A Q & A session
