Circular Genomics launches CircPATH for discovering and validating circRNA biomarkers

After the publication of a Nature Medicine study showing that circular RNAs (circRNAs) in the blood can forecast Alzheimer’s symptom risk, Circular Genomics has introduced CircPATH, a platform for discovering and validating circRNA biomarkers.

According to Circular Genomics, CircPATH detected circRNA biomarker signatures that:

  • Accomplished a 0.945 area under the curve for identifying biomarker-confirmed Alzheimer's disease.
  • Reached near-perfect diagnostic accuracy when combined with pTau217 (0.967 area under the curve).
  • Predict Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment symptom onset.
  • Achieved an even stronger symptom onset prediction (4.83 hazard ratio) when combined with pTau217.

According to a company release, CircPATH mapped multiple pathways of Alzheimer’s disease and was validated with three different independent cohorts.
