Strengthening rural health access: HHS invests $11.2M to expand rural healthcare residency programs
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is allocating $11.2 million to establish 15 new rural physician residency programs, aiming to improve healthcare access in underserved communities across 14 states.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced their investment of an additional $11.2 million in their Rural Residency Planning and Development (RRPD) Program through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), according to an announcement.
The goal of this action is to strengthen access to healthcare in rural communities. The grants will be awarded in increments of $750,000 over three years to aid with the establishment of 15 new physician residency programs across rural communities in 14 states.
