The College of American Pathologists has appointed Akshay Patel as Interim CEO, effective October 28, succeeding Dr. Michael Fraser. Patel's extensive experience in laboratory quality and organizational management will guide the CAP through this transition, ensuring continued support for pathology professionals and laboratories worldwide.
Mr. Patel currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the CAP. He brings to the organization extensive knowledge of and experience with their membership and laboratory quality programs, as well as their finance and information systems. He will work closely with outgoing CEO Michael Fraser, PhD, to ensure a smooth transition.
“The CAP Officers and Board of Governors have full confidence in Akshay’s leadership and his ability to advance our mission,” Dr. Zhai said. “The Board also wishes to express the same confidence and trust in our current executive operations team who together will assist in this transition process.
