Sue Harmer has been named the new president of the American Proficiency Institute, one of the largest proficiency testing providers in the world, serving over 20,000 clinical laboratories.
Former president and API co-founder, Daniel C. Edson, has been named chairman emeritus of the API board of directors. “Sue was API’s first employee, hired 30 years ago, to bring her skills as a medical laboratory scientist to our proficiency testing products. Her talent and experience make her an excellent choice to lead API today.”
“I started working at API when we were operating out of a small room on Traverse City’s main street,” said Harmer. “Over time, API expanded its presence and today is renowned for its innovative approaches to proficiency testing. We have the scientific and technical expertise to help medical laboratories provide accurate and reliable test results. It’s something I’m quite proud of.”
The appointment of Sue Harmer ensures a smooth continuation of the services API provides its laboratory customers. “Our focus is always proficiency in laboratory testing,” explained Harmer. “API will continue to develop and offer leading-edge advancements in support of this mission.”
