Victims have experienced data leaks, reputational harm, and other cyber threats since late 2023.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has published a FLASH warning to inform the public of recent cyber-schemes. The actors are working on behalf of the Government of Iran Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) to target those that oppose Iran, according to the document.

Victims are being targeted via “Telegram as a command-and-control (C2) infrastructure.” They’ve suffered “intelligence collection, data leaks, and reputational harm” so far. The FBI tracked this activity back to late 2023. The agency warns that even though those that oppose Iran have been targeted, anyone can be affected. They recommend keeping your software updated, only downloading apps from official sources, leveraging multi-factor authentication, and utilizing anti-malware software.
