Blood bank of Alaska implements Mediware software systems

Nov. 7, 2014

Blood Bank of Alaska (BBA) announced that they have implemented Mediware's LifeTrak and RecruitTrak Suite software systems. The new systems will help them prepare for the opening of their new facility in Anchorage in 2015 that will service the state.

“Mediware is pleased to welcome Blood Bank of Alaska into the growing list of organizations that rely on our solutions,” says T. Kelly Mann, President and CEO of Mediware Information Systems.

Mediware supplies software solutions to commercial healthcare providers and many state and federal agencies. LifeTrak and RecruitTrak Suite directly support BBA's mission to serve the Alaskan community by providing high quality blood products and related laboratory services while meeting changing healthcare needs.

The new 57,000 square foot building will include a state-of-the-art reference laboratory and consolidate operational support staff under one roof. Blood Bank of Alaska looks to provide the patients of Alaska with a blood bank that facilitates access to services previously unavailable in Alaska. BBA saw this as an opportunity to bring them up to speed with other blood banks. The statewide organization was in need of a new system that would provide a centralized solution and support the state's 2,000 plus blood donors.

“Our organization has an obligation to the patients of Alaska and our valued hospital partners throughout the state to continuously develop our technologies. Mediware provided a wonderful opportunity to upgrade our processes and provide a better donation experience for our donors,” says Robert Scanlon, CEO of Blood Bank of Alaska.
