Researchers from Mayo Clinic and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre have developed a detailed map of meningioma tumors by analyzing over half a million tumor cells, revealing insights into immune cell behavior and treatment responses.
Mayo Clinic and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto researchers have created a roadmap of meningioma. It is “one of the most detailed maps to date” of the tumor, according to an announcement.
To do this, the scientists looked at single tumor cells and mapped more than half a million of them, along with “millions of data points across tumors.” They achieved this with single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics. The result was a comprehensive layout of how each cell behaves in different tumors and environments.
The researchers were able to connect certain immune cell states to disease outcomes. They also found clues to treatment response and tumor recurrence in certain immune cell programs. These findings could lead to more personalized treatment for patients and less invasive diagnostic methods.
