Meridian Bioscience launched mixes designed to be incorporated into room-temperature stable molecular assays, directly targeting nucleic acid sequence from saliva, sputum and stool samples.
Meridian’s Air-Dryable Direct DNA qPCR Saliva and Air-Dryable Direct RNA/DNA qPCR Saliva Mixes have been formulated specifically to overcome the inhibitors found in saliva samples, allowing a diagnosis directly from crudely processed saliva or sputum samples — no further optimization is required aside from the addition of primers and probes. The mixes can be used simply in a wet format or alternatively dried down to create ambient-temperature stable assays without the need for lyophilization.
Similarly, Meridian’s new Air-Dryable Direct DNA qPCR Stool and Air-Dryable Direct RNA/DNA qPCR Stool Mixes remove the need for RNA or DNA purification or complex component optimization. They produce assays directly from crudely processed stool material. Setting up the assay can be as simple as adding primers and probes. The assay can then be used in a liquid format or dried down in a convection oven to create ambient-temperature stable assays without the need for lyophilization.
