CMS guidance: Revisions to the State Operations Manual

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated chapter 6 of the State Operations Manual (SOM), and certain guidance memos are now expired.

Key updates:

·       Modified survey and enforcement timelines.

·       Budget responsibilities elaborated.

·       The “incorporation of current procedures and practices for federal monitoring surveys, State Agency Performance Reviews, and revisit surveys.”

·       Elimination of Form CMS-1557 in the survey process.

·       Inclusion of new regulatory updates.
