CMS announces upcoming meetings regarding clinical diagnostic laboratory tests
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced three upcoming meetings in the Federal Register regarding clinical diagnostic laboratory test code payments and the Medicare Advisory Panel on Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Tests.
The first will be held on June 10, 2026, and cover the Medicare Program “New and Reconsidered Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Test Codes for the Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule for Calendar Year 2027.” The public will have the opportunity to give comments and data-backed insights on the updated Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes that are being reviewed for 2027 and Medicare payments associated with them. Additionally, individuals who suggested “certain reconsideration requests regarding final determinations made last year on new test codes” will have the chance to be addressed.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 14-15, 2026. The Medicare Advisory Panel on Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Tests will convene and initiate five new members.
The third meeting is also for the Medicare Advisory Panel on Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Tests. The public will be able to suggest data-backed recommendations for the Panel members on how to approach establishing clinical diagnostic laboratory test payment amounts. The Panel will use this information to make decisions to counsel the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This meeting will be held September 15-16, 2026.
