April 6, 2026

Mount Sinai Medical Center has earned the Cancer Center of Excellence designation from the Florida Department of Health. They are now one of only nine providers in the state to hold the distinction, according to an announcement.

The designation was established by the Florida Legislature and recognizes providers that meet rigorous, performance-based standards, including multidisciplinary care, continuous quality improvement, and a systems-based approach that integrates clinical teams, research, and patient support services.

With more than 2.1 million new cancer cases projected nationally in 2026 and more than 183,000 expected in Florida alone, the need for comprehensive, coordinated care continues to grow. Mount Sinai is preparing to meet that demand with the opening of the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, a major investment designed to bring every aspect of cancer care under one roof. The center will expand access to integrated oncology services, advanced technologies, and specialized programs, offering patients and their families a more seamless experience so they can focus less on navigating the system and more on healing.
