Executive Order on cybercrime signed

On March 6, 2026, the U.S. signed an Executive Order to enhance cybersecurity efforts, focusing on victim support, offensive and defensive measures, and international cooperation against cyber threats.

On March 6, 2026, an Executive Order was signed regarding cybercrime in the United States. The goal of this action is to protect Americans from the burden of these incidents.

The Executive Order, titled “Combating cybercrime, fraud, and predatory schemes against American citizens,” consists of five sections containing preventative and counter steps that will be taken by the government against cyber incidents. These include:

  • Helping those affected by cybercrime, including founding a Victims Restoration Program.
  • Responding to malicious schemes with “law enforcement, diplomacy, and potential offensive actions.”
  • Updating current guidelines and frameworks and drafting an action plan to monitor and deal with Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) committing cybercrimes against Americans.
  • The development of a special task force within the National Coordination Center (NCC) that addresses and combats cyber incidents.
