Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is one of less than 300 hospitals ranked five stars by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), according to an announcement. This is the eighth consecutive year Cedars-Sinai has received this ranking.
Cedars-Sinai leadership attributes the rating to the hard work and dedication of the hospital’s staff. CMS distributes grades “based on 46 quality measurements from five categories: mortality, safety, readmissions after treatment of common conditions, patient experience, and timely and effective care.” The hospital reported they particularly excelled in mortality category for their efforts in caring for heart failure, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients. Additional achievements include low incidence of hospital-acquired infections and lowering readmissions for patients.
