CDC updates infection control guidelines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its recommendations for infection prevention and control in healthcare settings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The updates involve different options for screening people (healthcare personnel, patients, visitors) prior to their entry into a healthcare facility.

The agency on provided information on factors that could impact thermometer readings, such as the temperature of the environment or the distance at which infrared must be held from the temporal artery in the forehead to take the temperature correctly.

And it provided resources for evaluating and managing ventilation systems in healthcare facilities. It also added a link to frequently asked questions about the use of personal protective equipment.
