Collaborative infographic helps detect deepfake content and prevent cybercrime
This initiative aims to educate the public on the characteristics of deepfakes, providing practical tips to spot AI-altered content and prevent falling victim to sophisticated cyber scams.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released tools to help the public avoid cyberattacks, particularly those that use artificial intelligence (AI). The American Hospital Association (AHA) reported on the news on December 3, 2025.
The latest resource is a joint infographic developed in collaboration with the American Bankers Association Foundation. The infographic defines AI-generated or altered content as “deepfakes.” The authors note that these criminals use deepfakes to parody the victim’s loved ones or public figures.
The tool aims to help the public identify the “red flags” of deepfake schemes such as demands for money or private information, mannerisms that are unlike the person they are trying to depict, and emotional manipulation. It also lists the characteristics of a deepfake and ways to identify AI-generated content that may otherwise look realistic.
