Thermo Scientific offers new manual cryostat for frozen sectioning

April 18, 2014

Thermo Fisher Scientific is offering a new manual cryostat that, according to company representatives, provides improved functionality and ergonomics and enables efficient, high-quality frozen sectioning. The Thermo Scientific HM525 NX is a routine clinical cryostat that has 27 cooled specimen positions, including four fast freeze positions, allowing a high degree of flexibility when managing specimens. It is designed with an LCD touch screen interface with icon-driven software. Users can change parameters simply and quickly to meet the demands of different specimen types.

In addition, the HM525 NX offers optional powerful on-demand, or scheduled, UV disinfection that can be initiated through the intuitive icon-driven software to protect the operator; reliable and tested stepper motor technology that delivers reproducible section thickness (sectioning range 1 μm to 500μm; 64mm vertical specimen stroke); and greater knee space to enhance the comfort of operators who are seated at the cryostat during long cutting sessions.

“Pathologists rely on quick turnaround time and excellent sectioning quality from their cryostat,” says Richard Vernon, commercial product manager, anatomical pathology, for Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Our HM525 NX cryostat gives them the functionality and control to achieve diagnosis rapidly.” Learn more about the HM525 NX cryostat.
