Northern Diagnostic Laboratories (NorDx), the largest reference laboratory in Maine and a member of MaineHealth, is the nation’s first clinical laboratory to acquire the new Sysmex XN-Series Automated Hematology Analyzers. The Sysmex XN-3000 configuration enables enhanced diagnostic capabilities and greater efficiency.
According to Stan Schofield, President of NorDx, Senior Vice President of MaineHealth, “The Sysmex XN-Series Hematology Analyzer is a powerful new platform and strategic laboratory solution that sets a new standard for testing sophistication and capacity. This new equipment will contribute to the success of our hospital network long into the future.” Maine Medical Center also acquired the Sysmex XN-3000 Automated Hematology Analyzer.
The Sysmex XN-3000 features a menu of advanced clinical parameters that allows NorDx and MaineHealth to conduct cellular studies that enable the quantitative assessments of red cell, white cell, and platelet precursors, guiding diagnosis and treatment by the physician. These advanced clinical parameters include NRBCs with every CBC, immature granulocytes with every Diff, RET-He within the reticulocyte profile, and an all-new fluorescent platelet channel for IPF to aid the physician in the differential diagnosis of thrombocytopenia.
The analyzer’s significantly smaller footprint optimizes efficiency of workflow, staffing, and space. Smaller reagent sizes and concentrated reagents simplify consumable inventory management. The system offers scalability and standardization across the enterprise to match the hospital’s current workflow, clinical parameters and informatics needs, with built-in flexibility to adapt to new and changing environments. The Sysmex XN-3000 is built on a concept known as Silent Design, a simplified system of operation and user interface based on careful study of operator interaction with instrumentation and laboratory sample.
