A new generation in oral fluid technology
OraSure Technologies and Roche Diagnostics have partnered to introduce drugs of abuse oral fluid assays for amphetamine, cocaine, opiates, methamphetamine, and PCP for use on automated clinical chemistry analyzers. Combining Roche's lab instrumentation and reagent chemistry with OraSure's oral fluid technology and sample collection devices, these fully automated assays are designed to run on various clinical chemistry automated analyzers and provide a convenient method for testing oral fluid drugs of abuse. The assays were developed in conjunction with the Intercept® Collection Device, which allows for collection of specimens anytime, anywhere. It's simple as “swab, snap and seal,” and the oral fluid sample is then sent to the lab for testing.
Speed of plasma with the quality of serum
Vacutainer® Rapid Serum Tubes (RST) are designed to provide high-quality blood serum specimens for patient diagnosis. This blood collection tube is designed to rapidly analyze blood serum in order to quickly determine a patient's diagnosis. With five-minute clotting time and as little as three-minute centrifugation time (4,000 g), the product offers turnaround-time savings of up to 32 minutes. This time savings can help facilities significantly improve patient throughput, especially in places like emergency rooms where decisions to admit patients are often guided by blood test results. According to BD data on file, clinical testing on its Vacutainer RST tubes has demonstrated a 59% relative reduction in hemolysis and a 59% relative decrease in fibrin strands compared to standard serum separator tubes.

New blood collection set
The new VanishPoint® Blood Collection Set features automated in-vein retraction that reduces the risk of needlestick injury and exposure to blood. The needle is retracted directly from the patient, virtually eliminating exposure to the contaminated needle. Retraction of the needle clamps the tubing, reducing the risk of exposure to blood. The set allows for one-handed activation. The trigger design reduces the risk of inadvertent activation. The trigger indicator is color-coded to indicate the needle gauge. Finger grips allow for handling ease, and the wingless design promotes ease of disposal. Only minimal training is required. It contains kink-resistant tubing in lengths of either 7″ or 12″. A removable luer adapter is included.

Blood collection system – Lean and green
The S-Monovette® Multiple-sampling Blood Collection System offers Lean and green solutions for healthcare facilities. It requires fewer components and steps than conventional collection systems and generates less waste. Users can manipulate tubes to perform either a vacuum or a gentle aspiration blood collection, eliminating syringes, hypodermic needles, transfer devices, and transfer steps. The corresponding one-piece safety needle has a small integral holder, so no assembly is required prior to use. It takes up to 80% less space in a sharps container than a standard needle and vacuum tube holder assembly.
