Labcorp introduces hepatitis D reflex testing

Labcorp introduces a new reflex testing option for hepatitis D within its comprehensive hepatitis testing portfolio, enabling automatic testing when hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is detected, streamlining diagnosis and treatment planning.

Labcorp has announced the availability of a new hepatitis D reflex testing option within its Comprehensive Hepatitis Testing portfolio. Because hepatitis D occurs only in people with hepatitis B, clinicians can now select a reflex testing option that automatically performs hepatitis D testing on the original blood sample when HBsAg is detected.

This streamlined approach supports earlier diagnosis as emerging hepatitis D treatment options continue to advance.

With Labcorp's new reflex testing option, clinicians can elect automatic hepatitis D testing on the original blood sample for patients who test positive for HBsAg. This approach eliminates the need for a separate order and additional blood draws, helping clinicians obtain actionable results more quickly. Labcorp also offers enhanced hepatitis B reporting with simplified result interpretations designed to support clinical decision-making.
