HHS concludes Hantavirus response tied to cruise ship exposure

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has officially ended its response to Hantavirus exposures linked to the M/V Hondius cruise ship, confirming no sustained transmission in the U.S. after a final 42-day monitoring period.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced the end of its response to the Hantavirus exposures from the M/V Hondius cruise ship.

After the final 42-day monitoring period ended, the agency reported that there was no “sustained transmission” of the disease in the U.S. They highlighted collaborative efforts between HHS and their federal, state, and local public health partners to monitor Hantavirus activity and prepare for a potential outbreak.
