UCLA scientists receive NIH grant for glioblastoma research

A UCLA-led team has received $3.2 million from the NIH to explore new glioblastoma treatments using pH-based MRI imaging, surgery, and personalized medicine, aiming to improve patient outcomes.

A group of scientists led by UCLA’s Drs. Kunal Patel and Benjamin Ellingson have received $3.2 million from the National Institutes of Health for their glioblastoma research, according to an announcement.

The team is looking to treat missed glioblastoma cells with pH-based MRI imaging, surgery, and precision medicine. They will study “subtle changes in acidity in and around tumors” and new treatment options.

The researchers hope their work leads to better patient outcomes.
