The College of American Pathologists (CAP) announced that they will be hosting a virtual meeting regarding the status of hantavirus tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Two of their expert pathologists will be giving the briefing.
The speakers are Mara Jana Broadhurst, MD, PhD, FCAP; Member, CAP Microbiology Committee; Associate Professor, University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Bobbi S. Pritt, MD, MSc, FCAP; Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and the Chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology at Mayo Clinic.
From 11-11:30 ET, the meeting will discuss what clinical labs need to know about hantavirus diagnosis, transmission, and risk. CAP has already published a hantavirus FAQ page written by Dr. Broadhurst. Tomorrow’s meeting will provide a deeper dive.
