The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated their “H5 Bird Flu: Current Situation” page.
As of June 27, 2025, there have been 70 confirmed cases and one death in the U.S. More than half of those cases are attributable to dairy cattle. The CDC still classifies bird flu as low risk to public health. Additionally, “there is no known person-to-person spread at this time.”
The CDC is using their national flu surveillance to watch for influenza A(H5).
