Measles outbreaks surge in Utah, South Carolina, and Arizona, causing declining elimination status in the U.S.

CIDRAP recently reported on current measles outbreaks in Utah, Arizona, and South Carolina. Stephanie Soucheray, MAsays the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is suggesting that the U.S. might be following Canada in losing its elimination status, according to the Times.
As of November 18, Utah has reported 84 measles cases. 10 of them were new since last week, and 68 of them are in southwest Utah, according to Soucheray, CIDRAP. South Carolina is also experiencing an outbreak, with 52 cases. Nearly 95% of those cases are in Spartanburg County. The state warned that holiday travel may increase transmission.
