CAP announces revisions to breast cancer reporting protocols
The College of American Pathologists has released updated cancer protocols, aligning with the WHO 6th Edition, with significant revisions to breast cancer reporting and other cancers, impacting accreditation standards.
The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has published the newest version of its Cancer Protocols with revisions to breast cancer reporting, according to an announcement.
This update comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) released new classifications and reporting guidelines and includes their recommendations. Eight of the protocols were updated, half of which have to do with breast cancer. All received revisions based on WHO 6th Edition. Key changes were made to:
Breast DCIS, Biopsy
Breast DCIS, Resection
Breast Invasive, Biopsy
Breast Invasive, Resection
The additional four updates are for kidney and head and neck cancer reporting. CAP noted that many of the revisions could impact accreditation.
