The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Cancer Neuroscience Program and Wiley’s Advanced Portfolio will co-host the International Cancer Neuroscience Symposium Feb. 18-20, 2026 in Houston.
The three-day hybrid event will take place at the Texas Medical Center Helix Park in the TMC3 Collaborative Building.
The symposium will bring together global experts in oncology, neuroscience, cancer biology, neuro-immunology and mental health with the goal of fostering innovation in cancer research and patient care through a unique integration of those disciplines.
This event will feature important insights and the latest cutting-edge research from more than 30 leading international experts, including Dr. James P. Allison (2018 Nobel Award winner in Physiology and Medicine), Dr. Sébastien Talbot, Dr. Douglas Hanahan and Dr. Erica Sloan.
“As cancer neuroscience rapidly reshapes our understanding of the disease, this symposium stands as a crucial gathering for the world’s leading scientists, clinicians, and advocates,” said Dr. Moran Amit, assistant professor in the Department of Head & Neck Surgery at MD Anderson and chair of the Cancer Neuroscience Symposium. “By unraveling how neural networks drive tumor growth, progression and metastasis, we ignite new hope for therapies that target cancer at its roots. We invite those interested to join us in 2026 to witness breakthroughs at the intersection of brain and biology—where collective innovation charts a bold path toward conquering cancer.”
Multiple planned sessions will focus on neurobiology, neurotoxicity, neuroimmunology, neural neoplasms and neurobehavioral health encompassing the comprehensive spectrum of the growing field of cancer neuroscience. Two evening receptions are planned to provide even more opportunities for networking and collaboration discussions.
MD Anderson’s Cancer Neuroscience Program is a first-of-its-kind initiative that brings together the expertise of world-renowned neuroscientists and cancer researchers to study the two-way interaction between the nervous system and cancer. The program aims to use this knowledge to advance better treatments for patients with all types of cancer and to address patients’ neurological and mental health challenges to improve their quality of life.
Advanced Portfolio editors Ada Wong, Ph.D. and Monty Montano, Ph.D. will attend the symposium and will participate in a panel which continues the conversations they had with the symposium’s key speakers in the CNS conversation series. These highly engaging and informational podcasts can be accessed here.
The symposium will feature daily poster presentations. Wiley will sponsor a special honor and award for abstracts selected for oral platform presentation.
