WHO revises TB testing TPPs

The World Health Organization (WHO) has revised their Target product profiles (TPPs) for tuberculosis (TB) screening tests. The updates are meant to reflect recent strides in TB testing techniques.

According to a release, the TPPs “define the most important characteristics and requirements to be considered in the development of new tests for systematic screening for TB and active TB case finding.”

Key revisions:

  • Guidelines regarding all available technologies for TB testing
  • The outline of three TB testing devices
