This case study details the Preg-OUT pilot program’s success in implementing rapid, opt-out syphilis testing for pregnant women presenting in the Emergency Department (ED). Using the Diagnostics Direct Syphilis Health Check™ test, the program increased screening from 2% to 56.4%, with 99% of patients preferring rapid testing to receive results and treatment right away. This patient-centered approach is improving access and outcomes for underserved populations and is being recognized as a national priority.
