Medical Laboratory Professionals Week was April 19-25. Last year, The American Society for Clinical Lab Science (ASCLS) created Lab Week bingo cards in appreciation of your daily experiences. We asked 256 clinical laboratory professionals what was filling their lab bingo card this year.

The most selected answer choice was, “Analyzer decides today is the day… to act up.” 43% of respondents have had malfunctioning analyzers in 2026. Additional findings:

• 19% received an unlabeled tube.
• 13% have had to rerun a STAT.
• 9% had a hemolyzed sample strike at the worst possible moment.
• 8% experienced a critical value right before shift change.
• 7% had a reagent run out mid-run.
