Responsibilities:

• Responsible for gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens.
• Serve as a resource (teaching, demonstrating, instructing on technique) to technical staff, residents and other staff as needed.
• Provide general supervision to the Surgical Pathology area and facilities.
• Facilitate the management of the operation, personnel and financial activities.
• Maintain records of quality assurance and quality control in all aspects of Surgical Pathology, thus ensuring the department meets all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree
• Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited pathologists' assistant program
• Must meet CLIA/DHR requirements
• Three to five years experience in an acute care facility
• Supervisory experience

• Prepare the routine H&E and special stains necessary for the microscopic diagnosis of surgical specimens
• Assist in the surgical pathology grossing area
• Participate in the general maintenance of the histopathology lab

Requirements:

• Completion of an ASCP Histotechnologist program or the equivalent in on-the-job training
• 2 years experience in an acute care facility
• High degree of technical competence and knowledge of all histological techniques
• One year of patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred
