Responsibilities:
- Responsible for gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens.
- Serve as a resource (teaching, demonstrating, instructing on technique) to technical staff, residents and other staff as needed.
- Provide general supervision to the Surgical Pathology area and facilities.
- Facilitate the management of the operation, personnel and financial activities.
- Maintain records of quality assurance and quality control in all aspects of Surgical Pathology, thus ensuring the department meets all regulatory and compliance requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree
- Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited pathologists' assistant program
- Must meet CLIA/DHR requirements
- Three to five years experience in an acute care facility
- Supervisory experience

- Prepare the routine H&E and special stains necessary for the microscopic diagnosis of surgical specimens
- Assist in the surgical pathology grossing area
- Participate in the general maintenance of the histopathology lab
Requirements:
- Completion of an ASCP Histotechnologist program or the equivalent in on-the-job training
- 2 years experience in an acute care facility
- High degree of technical competence and knowledge of all histological techniques
- One year of patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred
