The mobile results-reporting application ITF-GoDoc MobileOE can be accessed from any location at any time, enabling computerized provider order entry, or CPOE, via Apple iPad and Android-capable tablets. Features such as billing information prompts, ask-at-order-entry questions, specimen types, and medical-necessity checks help ensure clean orders for receiving labs. Orders can be dropped to any capable electronic health record, laboratory information system (LIS), or billing and accounts receivable system. The system is integrated with a browser-based workflow facilitator for patient service centers and hospital outpatient registration points to enable order validation prior to electronic upload of orders to the LIS or registration system.

Biometric patient identification
The PatientSecure biometric patient-identification system integrates with Halfpenny Health Information Exchange, enabling patients to be instantly identified in a lab’s registration system. For initial enrollment into the system, the patient confirms her identity with relevant identification documents (e.g., driver’s license, insurance card, and Social Security number). Next, the patient is linked to her medical record in the LIS by placing her palm directly above the scanning device, which scans the hand using a non-intrusive, near-infrared light wave to capture an image of the blood flowing through the veins. For future lab work, the patient’s information is automatically retrieved via a palm scan — even unconscious or confused patients can be instantly identified.
