Molecular test kit detects flu A, flu B, or RSV
The Simplexa Flu A/B & RSV test on the 3M Integrated Cycler is intended as an aid in the detection and discrimination of influenza A, influenza B, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) RNA in nasopharyngeal swabs, or NPS, from human patients. The FDA-cleared test for detecting flu A/B viruses and RSV does not require confirmation of test results for all three viruses by other time-consuming methods, such as culture. The test employs real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to qualitatively detect RNA of the influenza A or B viruses or RSV in a patient’s nasal or nasopharyngeal specimens. The test reports if a patient is positive or negative for infection with one or more of the three classes of viruses.

Chromogen compatible with HRP
The advanced formulation of Vina Green Chromogen provides stable and vivid staining quality. The chromogen is a two-component system that produces a green stain in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Vina Green is clearly distinguishable from Warp Red and DAB on a single slide, enabling high flexibility for its application in multiplex IHC. It can be permanently mounted in a variety of mounting media and is suitable for both Iimmunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization applications including HPV, CMV, EBV, p63, TTF-1, Ki-67, and other target antigens such as blood and lymphatic vessels, and basal and myoepithelial cells.

Blood-based test for schizophrenia
Designed to complement the healthcare provider’s clinical impression, the molecular diagnostic tool VeriPsych is a blood-based diagnostic test to aid in confirming the diagnosis of recent onset schizophrenia. Based on the simultaneous measurement of 51 different protein and hormone biomarkers with an associated mathematical-decision rule, the test compares the biomarker profile of a patient with suspected schizophrenia to that of patients with a confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia. The test aids in confirming recent onset schizophrenia by measuring blood-based protein biomarkers associated with mental illness.

Automated microplate washer
The ELx50 Microplate Strip Washer is a modular three-in-one platform solution for automating complex washing steps in many 96-well-based assays, including standard ELISA, biomagnetic bead separation, and polystyrene vacuum filtration. Other popular applications include vacuum filter-to-waste for PCR cleanup, washing in cell-based assays, and washing protein arrays spotted in microplate wells. The system uses a microprocessor-controlled syringe fluid system for precise control over multiple flow rates. Each unit features integrated dispense and aspirate pumps. High-strength biomagnetic separation offers superior micrometer and nanometer bead retention in flat-bottom, round-bottom, and half-area microplates.

Compact multiplexing instrument
MAGPIX is a versatile multiplexing platform capable of performing qualitative and quantitative analysis of proteins and nucleic acids in a variety of sample matrices. This system can perform up to 50 tests in a single reaction volume — reducing sample input, reagents, and labor. Based on a new detection mechanism that uses low-cost, high-performing light-emitting diodes and a CCD imaging system, with state-of-the-art software, the system can be used to analyze both nucleic acids and proteins. The instrument uses MagPlex magnetic microspheres and runs xPONENT software, and is supported by a broad menu of commercially available assay kits, as well as reagents to build the lab’s own assays.

Molecular classification test for tissue of origin
The Pathwork Tissue of Origin Test for formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues measures the degree of similarity between the RNA expression patterns in a patient’s tumor and the RNA expression patterns in a database of 15 tumor types (metastatic, poorly differentiated, and undifferentiated cases) that were diagnosed according to then-current clinical and pathological practice. The test uses microarray technology from Affymetrix to measure the expression levels of more than 2,000 genes. The company will transition the test for FFPE offered through its CLIA-certified laboratory from a laboratory-developed test to an in vitro diagnostic.

Differentiate carcinomas
The Lung Adeno-2 and Lung Squamous-2 Multiplex IHC tests aid in the critical differentiation of NSCLC squamous-cell carcinoma vs. adenocarcinoma with 100% specificity for squamous-cell carcinoma and 79% sensitivity for adenocarcinoma. This differentiation is a critical component in therapeutic decisions such as the use of VEGF or EGFR inhibitors. Using simultaneous multiplex immunohistochemical (IHC) technology, the Lung Adeno-2 (TTF-1 + Napsin A) and Lung Squamous-2 (p63 + CK5) tests allow for the IHC analysis of poorly differentiated lung adenocarcinomas vs. squamous-cell carcinomas on a single patient slide.

PNA FISH test with rapid results
The EK/P aeruginosa PNA FISH diagnostic test identifies
Escherichia coli and/or Klebsiella pneumoniae as well as Pseudomonas aeruginosa directly from positive blood cultures. PNA FISH tests now provide rapid, therapy-guiding results for 95% to 99% of patients with bloodstream infections and positive blood cultures. EK/P aeruginosa PNA FISH will enable microbiology labs to provide clinicians rapid, accurate, Gram-negative pathogen identification results in hours instead of days. This test can provide critical results 24 to 48 hours sooner than conventional methods to help clinicians improve care and outcomes for patients with Gram-negative bloodstream infections.
